Ticketer

Software Engineer 2023 — Present

Ticketer is the UK’s most widely deployed smart ticketing systems supplier, with Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs) on buses throughout the UK and we have started our international expansion across Europe and the Americas.

My role involves creating software that enhances user satisfaction and ensures that business needs are met. I collaborate with cross-functional teams and write efficient code that adheres to best practices. I've been part of a fantastic team that made the Bee Network bus service for Transport for Greater Manchester happen, and it's been awesome seeing how it's supporting our local community!

Swapi Ltd

Lead Software Engineer, 2021 — 2023

Swapi Ltd the only startup digital wallet globally that allows users to swap their loyalty rewards, cashback & gift cards between brands, leading a small team of internal and outsource engineers, successfully launching the company first digital wallet, loyalty and cash back reward mobile app.

  • I joined Swapi during the early stages of the startup to initiate our MVP products and build a team of developers to support the company's growth.
  • I was responsible for managing a team of developers and worked collaboratively with cross-functional teams to identify software requirements and develop effective solutions.
  • In November 2021, we launched our first cross-platform mobile application and established a stable infrastructure to support the platform that attracted a large volume of visitors.

During my two years, I successfully transformed our MVP products into thriving commercial entities across the entire company's software ecosystem, which included mobile apps, APIs, and white-label systems.

RIFT Group

Software Engineer, 2020 — 2021

I have been a part of a growing team working on and supporting company mobile application development. Work closely with the Marketing and Product team to establish project timelines, scopes and deliverables.

I worked on various third party integration including Facebook Graph API, Facebook Pixel, BigQuery and Google Campaign Manager. I was involved in legacy system migration to the latest .Net Core and Azure Cloud migration project and microservices solution. Set up centralized monitoring tools with hands-on coding along with supporting the project team with technical challenges that arise.

I had the opportunity to work on challenging tasks during my time at RIFT. Some of the tasks I worked on were: splitting a decade-old monolithic architecture into microservices, working with a federated GraphQL API, learning and sometimes managing a Kubernetes cluster, creating and implementing a design system, gradually migrating individual components and routes to a new framework and infrastructure, and much more.

Lead Software Engineer, 2019 — 2020

I was responsible for developing crucial web applications in-house to enhance productivity. I worked closely with the managing director and project team to establish project timelines and deliverables.

In addition, I was responsible for maintaining our cloud infrastructure, delivering automated testing, and handling continuous deployment, third-party, and payment integrations. I guided and provided support to our development teams, managed their tasks, and ensured that user stories were met.

Since I joined the company in 2019, our platform has been successfully rolled out across three new countries.

Lead Software Engineer, 2016 — 2019

Parcel2Go.com is the UK’s leading parcel delivery comparison site and with over 10 years’ experience in the industry you can trust that your parcel is in safe hands. We were even ranked in the top 100 fastest growing technology companies in 2011 (Sunday Times Tech Track 100)

  • In 2017, I was promoted to Lead Software Engineer to help transition the company's legacy system to a modern ReactJS front-end framework.

I was responsible for a range of projects, working closely with our development team, UI/UX, Marketing and product owner while continuing to improve our existing comparison systems. Through analyzing the current technologies that were in use within the existing systems and determining a way to improve and develop web solutions that ultimately form the new architect that solved existing business problems.
